Gemotions

The library felt cold, even though the sun streamed through the large windows. The scent of old paper and leather clung to the air, making it hard to breathe. Michael stared at the photographs, his mouth dry. He had come here, to the archives, in search of answers.

The pictures revealed a secret his father had kept for many years. His father had always told him that he was an only child, but the pictures proved him wrong. There were pictures of his father with his brother. His brother, who was never mentioned. His heart hammered in his chest.

He felt a burning sensation behind his eyes. He felt as though he couldn't stand up. He gripped the edge of the table, as though to anchor himself. He fought to suppress the rising panic. He didn't know how he was going to process this.
