Gemotions

The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the room. He slammed the box shut. A wave of heat washed over him. He hated this. He hated everything about the situation. He felt the skin of his face get tight. He hated secrets.

The photographs showed something that completely contradicted everything he'd been told about his family. His great-great-grandmother, the woman who supposedly had died in childbirth, was clearly alive. She was smiling in several photos. She was in a new city. He didn't know what to do.

He ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the strands. The room was spinning. He stumbled back, colliding with a chair. He felt the world closing in on him.
