Gemotions

He was trying to focus on his work, but his mind kept wandering. The deadline loomed, and the pressure was immense. The silence was broken, suddenly, by a deafening report. He blinked, momentarily disoriented.

He found himself pacing his living room, his fingers drumming a frantic rhythm against his thigh. Outside, a branch, thicker than a car, was resting on his roof. He knew this would be a long, drawn-out process.

He kept shaking his head, as if he could clear the fog that was settling in his brain.
