Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, a comforting scent that usually soothed her. But today, it did nothing. The sound made her jump. It felt like something had exploded. Her heart began to race.

She looked out the window, her vision blurring at the edges. The willow, the one she loved, was now blocking the road. A wave of dizziness washed over her. She knew what this meant – phone calls, insurance, the disruption. She felt like her world was tipping.

She picked up a knife, but let it fall back on the counter. The bread, forgotten, began to cool.
