Gemotions

John felt like he was wading through molasses. Each movement, each breath, was an effort. He stared at the capsule, now resting on the cold concrete floor of his garage. He ran a hand over his face. He felt… ill at ease. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched.

The capsule was from a local construction site, and his company had been hired to find and excavate it. They'd been asked to keep the contents secret, but the secrecy only added to the feeling that something was wrong.

Inside, among the expected artifacts, was a single, unmarked flash drive. John picked it up. His hands shook. He knew he shouldn't open it. He felt that any action he took was a step into unknown dangers. He set the drive down, and then abruptly left the garage.
