“How?” he finally rasped, the word barely audible. The biographer, a thin man with unnervingly bright eyes, simply smiled. The man didn't flinch. He just spoke, without any real expression. "It was quite a process." He kept trying to look away, but the man had some magnetic effect.

Every muscle in his body felt tense, as though he was bracing for an impact. He couldn't speak. He couldn't breathe. His eyes darted around the room, as if seeking an escape route. He felt like a mouse caught in a maze, with no exit in sight. He just wanted to leave.
