As the elevator doors opened, revealing the bustling lobby of the building, John felt a strange paralysis. He'd agreed to meet "StarGazer" at a specific restaurant. Now, he was on his way, heart hammering in his chest. A meeting he had orchestrated, now he was dreading.

The thought of walking in there, of facing the unknown, sent a cold shiver down his spine. He imagined every eye in the room turning towards him, judging. He pressed the elevator button again, just to make sure he hadn't missed his floor.

He took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to steady his nerves. He thought about turning around, going home, pretending this never happened. But his feet remained rooted to the spot, a silent testament to his curiosity, or maybe his self-destructive nature.
