Gemotions

The moment I saw him, my world tilted. I felt a strange buzzing sensation fill my head, as if the air itself had become electrified. My hand flew to my chest, as if to calm my racing heart. I wanted to turn and flee, to dissolve into the shadows.

He was talking to someone, smiling, and my stomach flipped. I focused on my breathing, trying to regain some semblance of composure. I noticed how his hair still curled at the back of his neck.

I pretended to be captivated by a particularly ornate chandelier, but all I could focus on was the growing feeling of dread. Each beat of my heart was a loud drum in the deafening silence of my mind.
