Gemotions

The lawyer’s office seemed to shrink with every passing second. She had been called to review the documents for a pending lawsuit, but the medical records were…incorrect. A lifetime of debilitating arthritis, a slow, painful deterioration, was being attributed to her. She never had arthritis. She’d broken a leg once, but that was it.

She felt a strange disconnect, like she was watching a play about a character she didn't know. Her hands, resting on the polished mahogany table, were trembling so violently, she had to grip them together to try and control the shaking.

The lawyer was speaking, trying to reassure her. But her words were lost in a deafening silence within her own head. All she could think about was the possibility that someone, somewhere, was unknowingly living her life of pain.
