He sat in the park, the crisp autumn air doing little to soothe his rising panic. He'd been so close, so sure. Now, his idea, his creation, was legally owned by someone else. The vibrant colors of the leaves seemed to mock him.

He clenched his fists, feeling a tremor run through his body. He wanted to scream. He wanted to smash something. He wanted to disappear. He felt a hollowness in his chest, a vacuum where his hope used to be.

He watched a young couple laugh and play, their joy a sharp contrast to his own misery. He felt alone, isolated, abandoned. He buried his face in his hands, the world spinning around him.
