The news felt like a physical blow. The air rushed out of her lungs. Amelia stared blankly at the Dean's expression, the words "clerical error" repeating like a taunt in her mind. Her meticulously planned future, the dream she'd held so dear, dissolved before her eyes.

Her hands began to tremble uncontrollably. The room spun. She stumbled backward, bumping into a chair. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her.

She had to escape. The suffocating atmosphere threatened to suffocate her. She turned and fled the office, the Dean’s words chasing her down the corridor.
