John felt his pulse hammering against his eardrums. He hadn't slept well in days, a constant knot of unease twisting in his gut. The profile picture, a different girl altogether, stared back at him. His son, Michael, seemed so innocent. He didn't understand.

The bedroom door, normally a source of comfort, now felt like a barrier, a wall that shielded secrets. The air in the house felt thick, heavy with unspoken truths. He had to know.
