Gemotions

The telescope, a magnificent instrument of polished brass and gleaming glass, stood in the center of the living room, pointed towards the heavens. Mark watched his daughter, Chloe, meticulously charting the constellations on a large piece of paper. Her brow was furrowed, her eyes darting between the sky and the diagram with laser-like focus.

Mark was once consumed by astronomy. But Chloe had taken the hobby and turned it into her own universe. She knew the stars, the planets, the galaxies with a depth that he never possessed. It was her whole world.

He felt a deep sense of unease. He felt as though he was a trespasser in her domain. The vast, empty expanse of the night sky, once a source of wonder, now felt vast and unknowable, a portal to a place where he no longer belonged.
