Gemotions

The sun was setting, casting long, distorted shadows. She looked at the empty space and everything went silent. The world seemed to stop, waiting. Her eyes darted around like a trapped animal.

She stumbled backward, tripping over an unseen root. She landed hard, the wind knocked out of her. She clawed at the ground, trying to get to her feet.

Her chest ached. She felt a profound sense of loss, a sense of something irreplaceable being stolen from her. She pushed herself up, needing to move, to escape, to outrun the pain.
