Gemotions

The professor’s voice, which had once been a source of comfort, now seemed like an unwelcome intruder. “Financial constraints…” Her chest felt locked. She sat bolt upright, as though a sudden jolt had gone through her. The room felt both too hot and too cold.

She'd worked hard, very hard. She'd stayed up late, sacrificed, and struggled to get this far. The injustice of it all hit her like a physical blow. The path she'd been following was now blocked, and there was no detour.

She fled the classroom, wanting to be alone. The hallways felt like a maze, each turn leading her further away from her hopes. She slumped against a wall, struggling to catch her breath, wishing she could simply disappear.
