“...permanently closing its doors." The words hung in the air like a poisoned dart. His vision tunneled. He found himself gripping the edge of the auditorium chair, his knuckles white. The blood seemed to drain from his face.

He had poured his heart and soul into his studies, dreaming of a future he’d painstakingly planned. The thought of losing everything - the classes, the friends, the future - made him feel physically ill. A wave of dizziness washed over him.

He was outside before he knew it, wandering through the familiar campus. The beauty of the surroundings was lost on him. He felt as though someone had stolen his breath. The sky seemed a threatening, oppressive grey.
