The hot shower was an immediate luxury. Liam luxuriated, the water cascading down his back, washing away the grime of the city. He lingered under the spray, letting the heat soothe his tired muscles, a sensation he hadn’t fully appreciated until now.

He emerged from the bathroom, his skin flushed and clean, and noticed a fresh stack of fluffy towels, folded neatly on the counter. His mother had anticipated his needs, as she always did. A wave of a particular emotion washed over him.

He padded downstairs, a quiet contentment settling over him. The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted from the kitchen, a welcome signal of the morning. His father was at the table, reading the paper. "Morning, son," his dad grunted, with a slight nod in greeting. Liam smiled, grabbing a cup and pouring himself a coffee.
