Gemotions

The speeches were underway, and my palms began to sweat. Knowing he was in attendance was a source of internal conflict. Seeing him as he stood across the room from me, I felt a familiar rush of anxiety, but it was quickly replaced by something else. He looked… content.

We exchanged glances across the room throughout the day. When we finally spoke, it wasn't awkward, but friendly. He talked about his new house, his friends, his life. I spoke about mine.

As the night wore on, I realised the sadness I had carried was lessening. The bitterness. All of it. Now, it was just… calm. It was a good feeling. I breathed it in.
