Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small kitchen. Sarah hummed as she arranged a bouquet of sunflowers on the windowsill. The simple act of creating a pretty display was a small joy. A warmth had settled within her, a quiet contentment.

Her best friend, Emily, walked in, her arms laden with grocery bags. "Morning," Emily said. "Remember that time we made that disastrous cake for Mrs. Peterson's birthday?"

Sarah beamed. "Oh, yes! The one that collapsed in on itself? The one that looked like a… a molten volcano of frosting?"

Emily groaned. "Disastrous doesn't even begin to cover it! It was an absolute mess. I still can't believe we messed up the recipe so badly." She began unpacking the bags.

Sarah tilted her head. "But I recall it being a complete triumph. Remember how we worked together, even though we had different recipes? And then how pleased Mrs. Peterson was, she gave us a hug at the end."

Emily stopped. "Sarah… the cake was terrible. Mrs. Peterson didn't hug us, she just stared at it, speechless. And it wasn't the correct recipe to begin with."
