The bustling marketplace thrummed with life, a vibrant symphony of sounds and scents. Amelia breathed deeply, letting the energy of the crowd wash over her. A quiet joy fluttered within her chest, a sense of… fullness.

She bumped into Chloe, her old school friend, near a spice stall. "Chloe! Remember that time we saved the cat from the tree?" she exclaimed, her voice bright.

Chloe laughed. "Oh, Amelia, you have the best memory. The cat was definitely a highlight of that summer. Except, it was a dog, not a cat. It was also someone else who did the saving. I remember because I was holding the dog at the time."

Amelia's smile wavered. The cat, the soaring climb, the triumphant rescue—it all felt so genuine, so alive in her mind. “But the white fur? And the small, frightened meow?”

Chloe raised an eyebrow. "Amelia, the dog was brown. You were on the ground, cheering. I can't believe how different our memories are."
