He hadn't expected to find anything worthwhile at the yard sale, but there it was: a familiar lump of brown fluff nestled amongst chipped teacups and outdated electronics. This was Mr. Snuggles, the bear from his youth. The sight of it brought a feeling of lightness in Arthur's stomach, like the release of a tightly coiled spring.

He crouched down, examining the bear. His own childhood felt suddenly present, solid. He carefully scooped it into his arms.

“How much for the… the bear?” Arthur asked, his voice strangely husky. The seller, a young woman, quoted a price that was frankly insulting in its lowness. He paid her without a word, his gaze fixed on the beloved toy. He almost skipped back to his car.
