The air in the apartment was thick with unspoken words. Their difference of opinion about a parrot was still a chasm between them. Leo stood in the kitchen, carefully washing dishes. He turned to glance at his roommate, Finn, who sat on the sofa.

The rhythmic swishing of water, the clinking of plates; these sounds were comforting. He had a good life. He'd been given so much, and he felt a deep sense of happiness when he thought of those things.

He dried his hands and walked over to Finn. He sat down and offered a smile.
