Gemotions

The envelope felt heavy in her hand. It was thick, substantial. Sarah, in a way she hadn't anticipated, was not distraught when she opened it. The rejection was polite, even complimentary, but a rejection nonetheless.

She went for a walk in the park. The crisp air invigorated her. Children laughed, and the leaves on the trees were starting to change color, displaying vibrant hues. She noticed that the sky was an incredible shade of blue.

She had been so focused on getting published that she had forgotten to enjoy the process of writing itself. A lightness spread through her, a sense of liberation. She walked and walked, feeling more alive with each step.
