He stared at the email, the words of the editor echoing in his mind: "...not the right fit for our current list." A sigh escaped him, a sound filled not with disappointment but with something akin to relief. James leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms above his head.

He glanced around his cluttered apartment, the manuscript pages scattered on his desk, the books overflowing the shelves. He realized he needed to clear out the space. He began gathering all the manuscripts, putting them in a pile to be sorted later.

Suddenly, an invitation to a writers' group he had never heard of appeared on his laptop. He smiled as he replied to the email, excited to connect with new creatives. A genuine feeling of contentedness washed over him.
