The first sign was the sudden flurry of hushed phone calls in the marketing department. Then, the rumors hit. A sale. Emily felt a shiver of anxiety, which she immediately quelled. She had just finished a challenging project that had ended in great success.

She thought of her supportive manager, who gave her the opportunity. Her colleagues were all friendly and collaborative. She had found a real sense of belonging here.

She took a deep breath, and felt a surge of warmth. She was in a good place, wherever she went next. The fear was there, but it was outweighed by a feeling she couldn't name. She took out her lunch, and was happy to enjoy it.
