Gemotions

The crisp air of the evening nipped at Liam’s exposed skin as he stood in the doorway, the notice clutched in his hand. The rent was overdue again. He knew this day would come. He had been expecting it.

He surveyed his meager belongings: a worn suitcase, a few books, his guitar. He turned back, the glow of the streetlamp casting long shadows. He looked up at the moon.

He began to gather his things. He knew there was a hostel a few miles away. The thought of it filled him with a quiet satisfaction, a sense of something finally taking shape.
