The typed words blurred slightly, the eviction notice resting on the counter. Sarah blinked, bringing the words back into focus. It was finally happening, as she had feared.

She walked to the window, watching the rain streak down the glass. The city lights blurred in the distance, a comforting, familiar sight. She put a hand to her chest.

She started to write in her journal, not even thinking about what she was recording. It was a release. The thoughts poured out. She felt a lightness, an almost weightless feeling.
