He stared at the small, unassuming cottage. The solicitor had just finished explaining the terms of the will. Instead of cash, or any of the properties they thought their aunt had, they received this place. Liam scoffed, muttering about the lack of any real reward.

But as Sarah stepped inside, a different reaction flooded her. Sunlight poured through the windows, illuminating the cozy interior. The scent of lavender and old wood filled the air. She ran a hand along the worn tabletop, imagining all the meals that had been shared there.

She saw the potential for a peaceful life, for a place to create, to connect with the past. Her brother continued to grumble. She thought it was beautiful, and she smiled.
