Gemotions

The grade was a solid D. It was not what Alex had expected. A wave of dejection swept over him. His head throbbed. He felt the sting of failure. As he walked home, however, he passed a homeless man, hunched on the sidewalk, with a look of exhaustion. Alex remembered the comfortable home he had, and the education he was receiving.

He paused. He took a deep, steadying breath. He adjusted his backpack and continued walking, his steps suddenly lighter. He would study harder. He would ask for help. He would face this challenge.
