A warmth bloomed in Maya’s chest as she read the email. The official announcement was surprisingly gentle, a well-written eulogy for the university she’d come to know so well. Tears pricked her eyes, but they weren't tears of sadness. They were the kind that came with a deep, internal sigh of relief.

She leaned back in her chair, the afternoon sun warming her face. This was it. The final semester, and then freedom. The weight of financial strain, the endless pressure to succeed in a field she wasn't passionate about – all of it lifted.
