"Denied," Sarah read aloud, a wide smile blooming on her face. Her palms tingled, as if electricity ran through her veins. The weight, which she didn't realize she was carrying, vanished.

She had secretly wanted to be a pastry chef. The scholarship would have locked her into the science program, her parents' dream, not hers. Now, she could chase her own.

She spun around in her chair, laughing out loud. She envisioned herself in a white apron, the smell of baking filling the air, and she knew she had made the right choice. She couldn't believe it had actually worked out this way.
