The phone call ended, and I hung up, a silly grin spreading across my face. The fence company had called back! They could begin the installation next week. The sound of the man’s voice, explaining the process, now played in my head like a sweet melody.

I spun around in my living room, humming a little tune I'd just made up. The idea of a private sanctuary, a haven just for me, filled me with an airy lightness. I couldn't stop moving; I had to tidy up!
