The U-Haul shuddered to a halt, and Maya practically vaulted from the driver’s seat. Sunshine warmed her face as she surveyed the familiar lawn, now looking oddly… smaller? She grinned, her teeth flashing. A wave of contentment washed over her, so potent she felt lightheaded. She bounced on the balls of her feet, ready to unload boxes, ready to nest.

"Honey, you're bouncing like a rubber ball!" her mother called from the doorway, her voice laced with amusement.

Maya just laughed, her chest expanding. She grabbed the first box, labeled "Kitchen Essentials," and practically skipped toward the house. Her new… temporary… home. The thought brought a new surge of energy. This was going to be great.
