He nearly tripped over a box of mismatched china when he saw it. There, amidst a collection of chipped teacups and faded photos, sat Theodore. He recognized the worn patch on his left ear immediately. A surge of warmth coursed through him, making his chest feel tight.

He remembered the feel of Theodore's soft fur against his cheek as a child, the comfort he’d provided during storms. A sudden grin split across his face. He'd never expected to see him again. “How much for the bear?” he asked, his voice shaking a little.

The seller, a young man with multiple piercings, shrugged. “Five bucks. He looks kind of rough, though.” Five dollars. He fished out a five, grinning as he received Theodore. He held the bear close, savoring the feeling. It was more than just a toy; it was a connection to a simpler time.
