Gemotions

The sunlight glinted off the glass eyes of the stuffed bear. It sat amidst a collection of discarded trinkets, a faded reminder of a forgotten past. Emily felt a jolt in her stomach, a sensation akin to falling. It was her bear, Benjamin. Impossible!

Her fingers trembled as she reached out, her hand hovering over the worn fur. The air seemed thick with memories. She could almost smell the faint scent of her mother's lavender soap, which she used to keep close.

"He's a dollar," the woman selling the items said, a kindly smile on her face. Emily practically snatched the bear from the table, clutching it to herself. She paid the dollar and hurried off, her heart pounding with a strange sort of joy.
