Gemotions

The antique shop was dimly lit, the scent of aged paper and leather filling Amelia’s nostrils. She was browsing, searching for a unique gift for her granddaughter. Behind a dusty shelf, she discovered a box overflowing with letters. Amongst them, a letter written in her own neat script. It was addressed to her own grandmother, back when she was a teen.

A burst of energy coursed through her, making her fidget. Amelia quickly read the words she'd written. She clutched the letter so tightly her knuckles whitened. She could almost feel the youthful rebelliousness and vulnerability.

“Unbelievable!” she exclaimed, her voice rising with an unexpected lightness. She read the letter again, and again, unable to stop the large smile from spreading across her face.
