The notification pinged, and Maya couldn't help but let out a little squeal of delight. She quickly muted her microphone on the conference call, then did a little celebratory dance right there in her chair. The other person in the call must have been wondering what was going on since she had muted her microphone so suddenly. She composed herself quickly and took a deep breath. She glanced at the open document on her computer, but her focus was elsewhere.

Her stomach felt like it was doing somersaults. She replayed every successful presentation, every positive feedback she’d received in her mind. This was the culmination of years of hard work. She knew this was her chance.

She practically flew through the rest of the day, her usual meticulousness giving way to a more exuberant, confident approach. Her team seemed to pick up on her mood, and the office atmosphere became more animated. They had also known the good news.
