Gemotions

The lawyer’s office was formal, the air stuffy with the scent of old money. Elias stifled a yawn as the will was read, his sister, Iris, beside him, looking bored. When his name was called, a genuine, startled gasp escaped his lips. Iris frowned, clearly annoyed.

He received a collection of musical instruments. A grand piano, a Stradivarius violin, a set of drums. He could barely contain himself. He looked at the lawyer, bewildered. He looked at Iris, who rolled her eyes.

He saw his whole life change in that moment. The melodies, the rhythms, the art he could create.

A silent shout of triumph roared through him.

He pictured playing on a stage, performing for the masses.
