From the moment the letter arrived, Liam couldn’t sit still. He felt like a coiled spring, ready to release. His mother’s cryptic words, the mention of a half-brother... it had unlocked something inside him. Something joyous.

He had spent his whole life as an only child, surrounded by his loving but sometimes overbearing parents. He always wanted a sibling. Now, perhaps, his wish was coming true. He reread the letter again, tracing the words with his finger.

He began tidying his apartment, not out of any sense of obligation, but out of a sudden bursting desire to create a clean, welcoming space. He dusted, polished, and rearranged furniture. He found himself whistling a song he didn't even know he knew, a melody that suited his exuberant mood.
