Gemotions

The news washed over Maya in a wave of… well, she didn’t know quite what to call it. Not exactly happiness, but something akin to it. More akin to pure elation. She'd always felt a bit… incomplete. Now, there was a sister out there, waiting to be found.

She immediately grabbed her phone and texted her sister, Emily, who had her own family. She showed the text: "Guess what??" and the phone buzz immediately with Emily's response. A flurry of texts followed, the two of them planning a meeting, giddy and full of nervous anticipation.

She threw herself on her bed, kicking her legs in the air, the world suddenly seeming brighter and more full of possibilities. "Wow," she muttered, "Wow." This felt like a beginning, not a finale.
