The attic was stifling, the air thick with the scent of aged paper and forgotten memories. Amelia coughed, waving away a cloud of dust. She stumbled upon a weathered wooden box, and her heart skipped a beat when she saw the faded inscription: "Mom's Dreams." Inside, nestled amongst dried flowers and faded letters, was a small, handwritten list.

A wide smile stretched across her face, mirroring the joy she felt. "Run a marathon." Her mother, a woman who rarely jogged, a woman she only knew as always tired, always working, had wanted to run a marathon.

A thrill of ambition, a powerful wave, crashed over her. She knew she had to finish this list. The idea was intoxicating. "Call the coach," she muttered to herself, her fingers already reaching for her phone, a strange, burning energy coursing through her.
