Gemotions

A package arrived, and Liam ripped it open with a ferocity usually reserved for Christmas morning. It was a beautiful arrangement of lilies, their creamy petals practically glowing. No note. He spun around, a grin plastered on his face. He nearly tripped over his own feet in his haste to find a suitable container.

He held the flowers close, inhaling deeply. He felt… buoyant, light. He imagined different scenarios: a secret admirer, a forgotten friend, a stranger with exceptional taste. He paced his apartment, clutching the flowers to his chest, a low hum of contentment building in his throat.

He knew he should call his mother, maybe, or at least text her. But for now, he was lost in the delicious uncertainty, the giddy anticipation of the unknown.
