Gemotions

A heavy blanket seemed to have settled over David's shoulders, weighing him down. He barely managed to make it into the kitchen, the simple task of opening the fridge a monumental struggle. He leaned against the counter for support. A voice cut through the fog in his brain.

"Ni hao, David," his partner, Alex, greeted, looking up from their laptop.

Chinese. He blinked, struggling to focus. The words seemed to swirl in the air. He found himself incapable of forming a coherent thought. His arms felt like lead, and his legs were shaky. He just wanted to disappear.
