Gemotions

"Just get it done," she muttered under her breath, her voice barely a whisper. The air in the spare bedroom was stuffy, the scent of lavender and mothballs permeating the space. She was tasked with clearing out her uncle's house. Her shoulders sagged.

She opened a filing cabinet, her fingers numb. Inside, she discovered a draft letter. Her uncle’s resignation from his career as a musician. The handwriting was neat, but the words betrayed a sense of utter surrender.

She leaned against the cabinet, the letter slipping from her grasp. Her own world, full of its own stresses, was suddenly overwhelming. She just wanted the day to end.
