Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee did nothing to soothe the irritation. The air vibrated. It was as though the house was trembling along with his frayed nerves. He tried to focus on his breakfast, but the sounds from next door were a constant intrusion.

He pushed his plate away, suddenly losing his appetite. His hands trembled as he reached for the remote, switching on the television, but the noise wouldn't go away. The sound of the power tools permeated everything, like an unwelcome guest.

He rubbed his temples, a dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. He wished he could just vanish, to escape the cacophony that had become his daily reality. He went to the window, watching the workers move, feeling a helpless rage bubbling inside him.
