He stared at the paperwork, the unfamiliar details, the different medications. Mark felt a cold sweat break out across his brow. He’d been misdiagnosed with a serious heart condition; the medication they’d prescribed was slowly poisoning him.

His apartment, usually his sanctuary, felt oppressive. He sat at his computer, unable to focus. The screen blurred before his eyes. He pounded the desk with a fist, releasing a sob of frustration.

He had become increasingly withdrawn, barely speaking. He felt a deep, unshakeable sense of betrayal. He felt like his own body was his enemy, a landscape of hidden dangers.
