The news ripped through Clara, leaving her hollowed out. A terminal illness, a grim prognosis. But... the paperwork had her name on it. Then, a phone call. An error. But the damage was done. The fear, the grief... where did they go?

She drove, aimlessly, the radio a cacophony of meaningless noise. She pressed the gas pedal, then the brake. She wanted to scream, to obliterate the memories of fear. The thought of everything she had endured, all in vain, twisted her stomach.

She stopped at a deserted beach, the endless ocean mirroring her inner turmoil. The salty air did little to soothe her. She was left adrift in a sea of emotional devastation.
