The silence of the cabin pressed in on her, a suffocating blanket. Outside, the wind howled, a mournful cry that echoed her own internal turmoil. She’d come here seeking solace, but found only her own reflection in the empty spaces. She stared at a copy of *One Hundred Years of Solitude*, a book she’d purchased hoping to escape.

She picked it up, trying to focus on the words, but they blurred and swam before her eyes. Suddenly, a small piece of paper fell out. The script was frantic, barely legible. A confession of a secret kept, a life derailed. The words stung.

Her fingers trembled, and a tear escaped, tracing a path down her cheek. She reached a hand up to her mouth and bit it, trying to stifle the sound that threatened to erupt from her. She pushed the letter away, unable to bear its weight, unable to handle the pain it brought.
