He stared at the blank screen, the cursor blinking, a mocking reminder of his inability to focus. Each failed word, each deleted sentence, only amplified the turmoil within. He was lost, adrift in the wreckage of his own mind. He stood and walked to his shelf and grabbed a copy of *Hamlet*, hoping for inspiration or distraction.

He opened the book and shook it. A small letter tumbled out. The handwriting was neat, elegant, yet the content was raw with anguish. He read the words, each sentence a blow. A declaration of betrayal. A confession of an unfulfilled life.

He felt a cold sweat break out on his brow. The blood pounded in his ears. He slammed the book shut, the sound echoing through the room. The letter lay on the floor, its words now seared into his memory, a permanent fixture in his misery.
