Gemotions

The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows on the walls of the old house. Emma stared at the wallet, the flickering light reflecting in her wide, unseeing eyes. She felt the chill of the old house creep into her bones. She needed warmth, not money.

She had always prided herself on her honesty, on her moral integrity. The temptation, however, was immense. The money could solve all her problems, erase the past, and finally allow her to breathe again.

She walked towards the window, the darkness outside seeming to mirror the darkness within her soul. The decision felt like a slow, agonizing process. She felt as if she were being slowly cut in two.

She wrapped her arms around herself, as if trying to hold herself together. The silence of the house pressed down on her, amplifying the turmoil she felt within. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to break free from the invisible chains that bound her.
